Senate Resolution

A RESOLUTION
Commending the Haralson County Historical Society; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Haralson County
Historical Society was presented the 2003 Preservation Award for excellence in
rehabilitation from the Georgia Trust at an awards ceremony in Milledgeville on
March 29, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the ceremony was part
of the Georgia Trust´s 30th annual meeting and Haralson County Historical
Society president Peggy Kimball and assistant treasurer Clovis Momon proudly
accepted the award for the rehabilitation of the county courthouse;
and
WHEREAS, the Haralson County Historical Society
was among 18 award recipients for excellence in the rehabilitation of historical
buildings and it was one of only two courthouses to receive the highly valued
Georgia Trust award; and
WHEREAS, the Georgia Trust
is the nation´s largest statewide preservation organization and has a
wonderful tradition of preserving Georgia historic resources and diverse
cultural heritages and of encouraging public education and awareness of historic
preservation; and
WHEREAS, the Haralson County
Historical Society is honored that its comprehensive renovation of the
courthouse, a ten-year project, was selected for the premier state
award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE
that the members of this body commend the Haralson County Historical Society on
being awarded the 2003 Preservation Award by the Georgia Trust and convey their
congratulations and best wishes for the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Haralson County
Historical Society.
