A BILL TO BE
ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend an Act entitled "An Act to abolish the present mode
of compensating the Clerk of the Superior Court, the Judge of the Probate Court,
and the Tax Commissioner of Turner County," approved March 26, 1980 (Ga. L.
1980, p. 4237), so as to provide a salary for the judge of the Probate Court of
Turner County; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
An Act entitled "An Act to abolish the present mode of
compensating the Clerk of the Superior Court, the Judge of the Probate Court,
and the Tax Commissioner of Turner County," approved March 26, 1980 (Ga. L.
1980, p. 4237), is amended by striking Section 3 and inserting in lieu thereof
the following:
"SECTION
3.
The judge of the probate court shall receive an annual
salary equal to the salary provided by general law for such judge payable in
equal monthly installments from the funds of Turner County; provided, however,
that the person who is serving as the judge of the probate court on December 31,
2002, shall receive an additional supplement equal to the amount provided by
general law for judges of the probate courts on a salary who are responsible for
traffic cases under any general or any local law applicable to Turner County,
whether or not such judge is responsible for traffic cases, for as long as such
person remains in such
office."
SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on January 1,
2003.
SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
repealed.
