                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Expressing sympathy to the family of Honorable Erney Winton 
  1- 2  Bell; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Honorable Erney Winton Bell was a distinguished 
  1- 4  Georgian, a highly respected elected public official, and a 
  1- 5  dedicated member of his community where he will long be 
  1- 6  remembered by his friends and family; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, he was a life-long resident of Evans County, the 
  1- 8  son of the late Dan and Agnes Burkhalter Bell, a United 
  1- 9  States Army veteran of World War II, and a successful farmer 
  1-10  who loved the land and cherished the beauty and wonder of 
  1-11  nature; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, he generously gave of his talent, energy, and 
  1-13  leadership to foster a better life for his fellow citizens, 
  1-14  serving as a member of the Board of Commissioners of Evans 
  1-15  County for 24 years, chairman of the Selective Service Board 
  1-16  for 20 years, former vice president of the Evans County Farm 
  1-17  Bureau where he received the Outstanding Service Award, and 
  1-18  a 27 year member of the Concerted Services where he received 
  1-19  the Winton Bell Humanitarian Award; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, throughout his life he contributed to the civic, 
  1-21  social, and religious affairs of his community, and his 
  1-22  participation and leadership were always governed by the 
  1-23  principles of fairness and decency; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, in addition to his community involvements, Winton 
  1-25  Bell was an abiding partner to his beloved wife and a highly 
  1-26  respected and understanding father to three very fortunate 
  1-27  sons. 
 
  1-28  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the 
  1-29  members of this body recognize the life and contributions of 
  1-30  Honorable Erney Winton Bell to his community, state, and 
  1-31  nation and convey their sincerest sympathy to the members of 
  1-32  his family. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  1-34  authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of 
  1-35  this resolution to the family of Honorable Erney Winton 
  1-36  Bell.
