A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Recognizing and commending Honorable Rebecca Long; and for
1- 2 other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, Honorable Rebecca Long served with distinction,
1- 4 dedication, and ability as an alderman of the City of Guyton
1- 5 from February, 1995, through December, 1999; and
1- 6 WHEREAS, she worked tirelessly to help revitalize the
1- 7 downtown area of Guyton by heading a group which has
1- 8 purchased and planted live oak trees on the old railroad bed
1- 9 that runs through the city; and
1-10 WHEREAS, she has been an active member of the Historic
1-11 Society and the Historic Commission and is very active in
1-12 the annual Guyton Tour of Homes; and
1-13 WHEREAS, as a member of the Guyton Planning and Zoning
1-14 Commission, she has endeavored to ensure that Guyton is a
1-15 dynamic city in which to live and work; and
1-16 WHEREAS, her detailed knowledge of the intricate issues
1-17 involved with governing the city and her willingness to be
1-18 of service to others have made her a person whose service to
1-19 the city and its citizens is appreciated by all who have had
1-20 the opportunity of working with her.
1-21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
1-22 REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and
1-23 commend Honorable Rebecca Long for her outstanding service
1-24 as an alderman of the City of Guyton and for her many
1-25 contributions to the citizens of Guyton and the State of
1-26 Georgia.
1-27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of
1-28 Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
1-29 appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable Rebecca
1-30 Long.
