                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  In remembrance of Waymon Moody; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 2  WHEREAS, Waymon Moody contributed significantly to improving 
  1- 3  the quality of life for his fellow citizens in Claxton, 
  1- 4  Georgia, and Evans County; and 
 
  1- 5  WHEREAS, he was born June 25, 1925, in Claxton and joined 
  1- 6  the historic Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at a very early 
  1- 7  age; and 
 
  1- 8  WHEREAS, in 1943, he married Sally B. Jones with whom he 
  1- 9  shared a life filled with happiness, and they reared five 
  1-10  children of their own, adopted a son, and parented eight 
  1-11  other children as their own; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, he entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served his 
  1-13  country with courage and honor during World War II, and he 
  1-14  was honorably discharged in 1946; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, he left Evans County from 1950-1968 and established 
  1-16  Moody Trucking Co., and on his return he opened Moody 
  1-17  Service Station and Moody Vault Company and later 
  1-18  established Moody Funeral Home in 1985; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, he was instrumental in effecting equal 
  1-20  representation on the Claxton City Council and on the Board 
  1-21  of Commissioners of Evans County, and his civic leadership 
  1-22  strengthened and improved community relations; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, his concern for the less fortunate and his personal 
  1-24  generosity have enabled countless persons to seek 
  1-25  opportunities for a better life for themselves and their 
  1-26  families, and his compassion and good will are an 
  1-27  inspiration to others. 
 
  1-28  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the 
  1-29  members of this body pay tribute to Waymon Moody and convey 
  1-30  their sincerest sympathy to the members of his family. 
 
  1-31  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  1-32  authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of 
  1-33  this resolution to the family of Waymon Moody.
