A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 43-14-6 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to the powers and duties of the
1- 3 divisions of the State Construction Industry Licensing
1- 4 Board, so as to change certain continuing education
1- 5 requirements; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
1- 6 purposes.
1- 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
1- 8 Code Section 43-14-6 of the Official Code of Georgia
1- 9 Annotated, relating to the powers and duties of the
1-10 divisions of the State Construction Industry Licensing
1-11 Board, is amended by striking paragraph (1) of subsection
1-12 (g) thereof and inserting in its place the following:
1-13 "(g)(1) With respect to Journeyman Plumber, Master
1-14 Plumber Class I, and Master Plumber Class II licenses,
1-15 the Division of Master Plumbers and Journeyman Plumbers
1-16 shall be authorized to require persons seeking renewal
1-17 of such licenses to complete board approved continuing
1-18 education of not more than four hours annually. A
1-19 person seeking renewal of such license who has engaged
1-20 in the business of plumbing involving single-family
1-21 dwellings exclusively since the last renewal or issuance
1-22 of that license, whichever is later, shall not be
1-23 required to meet any continuing education requirements
1-24 for such license renewal. The division shall be
1-25 authorized to approve courses offered by institutions of
1-26 higher learning, vocational-technical schools, and
1-27 trade, technical, or professional organizations;
1-28 provided, however, that continuing education courses or
1-29 programs related to plumbing provided or conducted by
1-30 institutions under the State Board of Technical and
1-31 Adult Education shall constitute acceptable continuing
1-32 professional education programs for the purposes of this
1-33 subsection."

SECTION 2.
2- 1 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
2- 2 repealed.
