HB 634 LC 14 6352 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1- 1 To amend Code Section 35-1-8 of the Official Code of Georgia 1- 2 Annotated, relating to acquisition, collection, 1- 3 classification, and preservation of information assisting in 1- 4 identifying deceased persons and locating missing persons, 1- 5 so as to provide that any law enforcement agency shall 1- 6 immediately open an investigation upon receipt of a report 1- 7 that a person with Alzheimer's disease is missing; to 1- 8 provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and 1- 9 for other purposes. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. 1-11 Code Section 35-1-8 of the Official Code of Georgia 1-12 Annotated, relating to acquisition, collection, 1-13 classification, and preservation of information assisting in 1-14 identifying deceased persons and locating missing persons, 1-15 is amended by adding at the end of the Code section a new 1-16 subsection (c) to read as follows: 1-17 "(c) Any law enforcement agency which receives a report 1-18 that a person who has Alzheimer's disease is missing shall 1-19 immediately open an investigation for the purpose of 1-20 determining such person's whereabouts; and no policy for 1-21 applying any waiting period prior to initiation of a 1-22 missing persons investigation shall apply in the case of a 1-23 person who has Alzheimer's disease." SECTION 2. 1-24 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 1-25 repealed. -1- (Index)
